A long-time collector of photography and art books, Justin Campbell wanted a way to prominently display his books in his home. He began looking into shelving options when an ad on Instagram caught his eye. The ad was for Modern Shelving and after some further exploration, Campbell decided that the shelves seemed like a perfect fit for his needs.
Campbell had a unique spot in his Los Angeles, California studio that had been a bit of a dead space. He wanted to fill the space with shelves to house his collection and opted for a custom order to help him utilize the space in a functional yet visually dynamic way.
Campbell got in touch with the team and together they created a plan to bring his vision to life. He placed his order and when the shelves arrived, he had someone help him with the installation.
“I’m great at directing,” Campbell joked. “But I won’t pretend I know my way around a toolbox!”
After getting the shelves installed and set up with his photography and art books, the dead space in Campbell’s studio has completely come to life. The shelves sit in a nook in the entrance, so they one of the first things you see when you enter the studio.
“It was a completely dead space previously,” says Campbell. “But now houses my vast library of photography books including my vintage collection of Bruce Weber books and the archive of my own publication things.”
Needless to say, Campbell is extremely happy with his shelves and the seamless way they display his book collection.
