Staff Spotlight: Meet Designer Ezra Gamboa

Posted by Rebecca Parsons on

Ezra Gamboa has always had an eye for design. She earned a bachelor’s degree in interior design and has over a decade of experience working in the design field. Over the years, she’s worked on a wide spread of projects, including commercial fit-outs, office and residential spaces, and visual merchandising for retails stores.

Based out of the Philippines, Ezra draws inspiration from the culture, vibrant design influences, and dynamic environment to bring unique perspectives to her work. Here, Ezra shares more about life as a designer for Modern Shelving, her design approach, and how she makes customer's dreams come to life.

When did you start working for Modern Shelving and what is your role?

I began working as a Design Specialist in February 2024.

What is your specialty at Modern Shelving?

I specialize in creating custom designs and also contribute to ensuring excellent customer experiences by supporting the customer support team.

What’s it like working remotely?

I’ve always loved being on-site, where I can actively oversee projects and experience the transformation firsthand as they progress from concept to completion. Recently, I decided to shift to remote work, allowing me to dedicate more time to myself and my family while continuing to pursue my passion for design.

What is your design approach when working on a project with a client?

Always serve both the eye and the lifestyle of those who inhabit the space. With custom designs, each client requires a unique approach — you have to create a design that balances the needs of the client, the budget, and overall look.

What it is like getting to work with so many different customers on so many different projects and spaces?

It’s a fun and fulfilling process overall. As I mentioned, working with different people brings unique challenges and fresh perspectives every time. My main goal is to ensure the design truly resonates with the customer. When it does, I know I’ve nailed it.

Are there any specific projects you’ve worked on with customers that stick out?

It’s a shelving system for a studio set that I collaborated on with a designer from Tennessee. I’ll always remember this project because it was the first project I closed for Modern Shelving — a milestone that holds a special place in my journey.

What feedback do you usually receive from customers?

Customers often share about how much they love the functionality and aesthetic appeal of their shelving systems. Many highlight how the custom designs perfectly fit their needs and spaces. I also frequently hear appreciation for the support provided throughout the process, from design consultations to installation.

What is the most rewarding part about the job?

I absolutely love it when customers share photos of their installed shelves and express how happy they are with the product.

What makes you a good match for Modern Shelving and our clientele?

I combine a passion for functional and aesthetic design with a customer-focused approach. I thrive on collaborating with clients to create custom solutions that not only meet their practical needs but also reflect their personal style. My ability to adapt to different design challenges and connect with people ensures that every project feels tailored and special. Plus, my dedication to delivering excellent service helps build trust and long-lasting relationships with customers.
