Living in an open space loft comes with a set of pros and cons. One of the challenges Eric Jess encountered living in a loft was figuring out a strategic way of keeping his space both separated and connected.
While on a trip in Milan, Italy, Jess stayed at an Airbnb with a similar design to his own loft. He loved the way they used shelves to seamlessly break up the space. Inspired by the design, he was excited to try and create a similar set up in his own loft.
“I wanted it to feel like each area had its own space but also like a free, open, and creative space,” says Jess. “So, I decided to use shelving to divide my bedroom area.
Jess hoped on the internet and began searching for shelving online. He was looking at interior inspiration on social media when he stumbled upon Modern Shelving.
After spending some time in his open loft coupled with the inspiration he found online, Jess had a clear idea of what he wanted. He worked with the Modern Shelving team to create a custom set of shelves that would deliver the function and aesthetic he was after. The team created a mockup for him and after receiving the stamp of approval from Jess, the order was placed.
Jess hired someone to help with the install and the process proved to be quick and painless. The shelves were installed in his loft, diving his bedroom area and the house, while simultaneously housing all his art books.
“I’m stoked with how everything turned out,” says Jess. “The impact it made in the space was amazing. I would and will recommend Modern Shelving to anyone, friend or family, looking for shelving solutions.”
